1. BPSC demand

High-yield areas are the 12 Schedules, Hindi in Devanagari as the Union’s official language, Article 343 numerals, Eighth Schedule languages, Fifth/Sixth Schedule distinction, and the fact that Articles 371–371J are State-specific special provisions. Bihar relevance is strongest for the Eighth Schedule (Hindi, Urdu and Maithili) and the language/State framework.

3. Fifth versus Sixth Schedule

The Fifth Schedule concerns Scheduled Areas and Scheduled Tribes in States other than the four north-eastern States covered by the Sixth Schedule. The Sixth Schedule provides for tribal-area administration in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram, including autonomous districts/regions and their councils. Do not extend Sixth Schedule to Bihar.

5. Language facts without common errors

India has no national language declared by the Constitution. Hindi in Devanagari is the official language of the Union under Article 343; English continues for Union official purposes and Parliament under the Official Languages Act, 1963. The Eighth Schedule has 22 languages; it does not itself make every language an official language of the Union. Bihar’s important Eighth-Schedule languages include Hindi, Urdu and Maithili.

6. Special provisions

ClusterMeaning
Articles 371–371JSpecial provisions for specified States; do not treat them as a single uniform provision.
Article 371ANagaland-related special provision.
Article 371GMizoram-related special provision.
Article 371JKarnataka-related special provision.

8. Bihar relevance

Bihar is in the First Schedule. Hindi, Urdu and Maithili are in the Eighth Schedule. Panchayat functions are read with the Eleventh Schedule and municipal functions with the Twelfth; Bihar legislation provides the State-level working detail. The Sixth Schedule is not a Bihar provision.
